EARN
PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE: 2-6 Months
Whether pursuing leisure or a career- the PPL is your first step. Starting in a single-engine airplane, this stage of training focuses on the fundamentals and sets the foundation as a pilot.

ADD INSTRUMENT RATING: 1-3 Months
Next, you will add an instrument rating that allows a pilot to fly under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and in all kinds of weather [in the clouds].

EARN COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE: 2-6 Months
Next, is the commercial certificate. This occurs at about 250 hours into your flight training. Ultimately this cert allows you to legally be paid to fly.

ADD MULTI-ENGINE RATING: 1-3 Weeks
Adding a Multi-Engine rating to the Commercial Pilot certificate is the final step before building experience to meet hiring minimums for charter companies and airlines.
